Few could have envisioned Frank C. Mars’ ultimate success when he started making and selling butter cream candy from his kitchen in Tacoma, Washington in 1911. After a century of launching world-class products and services, creating exciting new business segments and welcoming thousands of top-notch Associates, two things have remained constant: we’re a principle-based and family-owned business at heart.

The next generation of the Mars family – Forrest E. Mars, Jr., John F. Mars and Jacqueline Badger Mars – led the globalization of Mars, Incorporated. They also carried forward the cultural foundation established by their father with the articulation of our Five Principles and today, the stewards of these Principles include the Mars Family and thousands of Mars Associates.

Led by non-Family management since 2001 and headquartered in McLean, Virginia, Mars continues to prosper as a principles-based business with more than $47 billion in annual sales in 2022.
